The most common misconception is that all performance fabrics fade the same way. They do not. In solution-dyed (dope-dyed) yarns, the pigment is added to the polymer before extrusion, so the colour runs through the entire yarn core. In piece- or print-dyed fabrics, the colour sits on the surface and wears off.
