The daily routine
- Vacuum weekly — dust and grit are abrasive; regular vacuuming removes them before they cut fibres.
- Rotate cushions — even wear keeps seating surfaces consistent.
- Keep out of direct sun — prolonged UV fades even lightfast fabrics; use curtains or positioning.
- Fluff and shake — loose covers and throws benefit from a quick shake every few days.
Reading the care code
Upholstery cleaning is controlled by the cleaning code on the label:
- W — clean with water-based foam or mild detergent.
- S — solvent-based dry cleaning only; water may cause rings or shrinkage.
- W-S — either method, with care.
- X — vacuum only; professional cleaning strongly recommended.
Stain response in the first 60 seconds
- Blot — never rub; rubbing pushes the stain deeper and frays the pile.
- Work from the edge of the stain toward the centre.
- Use the code-appropriate cleaner and rinse residue.
- Allow to air-dry fully; do not use heat guns on synthetics.
For hotels, restaurants and contract projects, schedule a professional deep-clean twice a year. Correct care is the cheapest way to protect your warranty and your brand.
A cared-for fabric is a repeat order — maintenance is the quiet salesman.
